About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Solutions Architect based in United Kingdom.

This is a strategic and advisory architecture role focused on shaping complex, multi-domain platforms for scalability, security, reliability, and long-term sustainability.

You will define architecture strategy, technical roadmaps, and reference patterns while guiding engineering teams through complex technical decisions.

The role combines deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, DevOps, automation, and modern software architecture.

You will bridge pre-sales and delivery, ensuring client solutions are technically sound, feasible, and aligned with long-term platform realities.

While the position is primarily architecture-focused, you will remain hands-on when greenfield initiatives, prototypes, or critical architectural decisions require deeper technical involvement.

You will collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Product, Leadership, and clients while influencing senior technical teams through expertise rather than formal authority.

This is a fully remote, full-time opportunity for an experienced architect who can raise technical maturity while remaining closely connected to delivery.

Accountabilities

Define detailed architecture blueprints, system designs, technical standards, reference patterns, and long-term technology roadmaps for complex platforms.

Design scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable distributed systems and integrations while balancing scalability, performance, security, cost, and operational complexity.

Act as the primary architectural authority, guiding technical direction and modernization strategies across mature and evolving systems.

Architect and optimize cloud or hybrid infrastructures, including networking, IAM/RBAC, compute, storage, monitoring, security, governance, resilience, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.

Establish Infrastructure-as-Code and automation strategies using technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or native cloud tooling.

Guide DevOps adoption, CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, release workflows, environment management, observability, automation, and operational excellence.

Support engineering teams with complex debugging, incident resolution, performance improvements, and architectural refactoring from a systems-level perspective.

Contribute selectively to architecture-critical code, prototypes, proofs of concept, code reviews, design reviews, and technical troubleshooting when hands-on involvement is required.

Partner with Sales and Customer Success during pre-sales to assess technical feasibility, shape solution approaches, participate in discovery and proposals, and validate delivery commitments.

Ensure architectural context and decisions transition effectively from pre-sales into delivery and early project planning.

Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to integrate AI/ML, event-driven architectures, workflow orchestration, and modern automation approaches.

Mentor engineers and technical leads, identify capability gaps, promote engineering best practices, and strengthen overall architectural and technical maturity.

Influence senior technical stakeholders through strong communication, credibility, and sound judgment without relying on formal authority.

Requirements:

Bring 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in architecture-focused roles.

Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.

Have proven experience designing, delivering, and evolving distributed systems in production, including large-scale or mission-critical environments.

Demonstrate strong knowledge of REST APIs, service-oriented architectures, event-driven design, messaging, queues, buses, event-management systems, SQL, data models, and databases.

Have solid understanding of Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, TDD, EDD, Infrastructure as Code, Platform as a Service, security, governance, observability, and resilience.

Be capable of reading, understanding, and reasoning about complex codebases across multiple technologies, with sufficient code literacy to guide architectural decisions.

Have strong familiarity with modern cloud platforms and cloud infrastructure, including experience with Azure or comparable platforms.

Demonstrate experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automation, infrastructure architecture, and production operations.

Possess strong architectural judgment and a systems-thinking mindset, combined with a pragmatic and delivery-focused approach.

Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and demonstrate strong ownership in evolving and ambiguous environments.

Be comfortable influencing and guiding senior engineers without direct authority while respecting their expertise and autonomy.

Demonstrate curiosity and openness toward emerging technologies and new architectural approaches.

Experience modernizing legacy systems, evolving mature platforms, working with cloud-native or containerized architectures, microservices, workflow orchestration, event-driven platforms, or AI/ML integration is a plus.

Cloud or architecture-related certifications are considered an additional advantage.

Benefits:

Long-term, full-time employment.

Fully remote work.

Competitive salary in USD, based on the role and experience.

20+ paid time-off days.

Opportunity to work on complex, multi-domain technology platforms and influence long-term architectural strategy.

Exposure to cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, AI/ML, DevOps, automation, and modern software architecture.

Opportunities to mentor technical teams and contribute to broader engineering maturity and leadership development.
